PROMOTING YOUR WORK PORTFOLIO OR YOUR BUSINESS ONLINE

You’ve drawn down the initial dosh.
You’re deep in production and you’re making the deadlines
Yet you’ve dithered over your website, never mind posting your industry profile online!
Your website is your company’s calling card so your words & website have to hook the user.

If, like many a busy artistic provider or entrepreneur, you’re so consumed with the day-to-day production that the last thing you’ve time for is your website, then this two-day workshop’s for you. It will equip you to create, complete, maintain and market your own website through the web.

Workshop Objectives:
By the end of the two day workshop, you will have:
• assembled assets & site plan in advance of workshop via preparatory phone & email sessions
• built your own website using simple software, blog building tools & guides
• scanned, re-sized & manipulated images for upload
• learned how to convert audio & video files to mp3 format for upload to the web
• written punchy & persuasive web text to promote your operation online
• devised strategies for linking within your sector & beyond to extend business
• your own website building handbook with frequently asked questions answered

Requirements:
• Your own laptop enabled with flash & picasa or other image manipulating programme
• Access to word or notepad (tutor can talk you through software set up if necessary)
• Memory stick for moving & storing materials during workshop

Tutor’s CV: Maud Hand (HAND AROUND THE WORLD productions)
Maud Hand has a twenty-year career in multimedia production in the UK and Ireland. From 2000 – 2008, she worked as a web editor and content producer & trainer for the BBC and Channel 4 following 10 years as a BBC Radio producer. Since returning to Ireland in May 2007, she’s produced RTÉ Radio 1’s Today with Pat Kenny, The Tubridy Show, Liveline, Mooney and Gerry Ryan for 2FM. She has six BCI Sound & Vision commissions in production for RTÉ, Newstalk, Shannonside and Galway Bay FM. As founding editor of the Northern Ireland hub of Channel 4’s IDEASFACTORY/ 4Talent, she’s trained hundreds of aspiring Irish and UK broadcast media creatives. She devised Channel 4’s Belfast Masterclass 2006, DVD series, high level training sessions in association with Belfast City Council, copies of which will be available for participants. She has trained 400 members of England’s incoming communities to create websites for the Channel 4 DCMS commissioned INSITE: www.channel4.com/insite. Using this training model of website building, Maud was commissioned by Donegal Cultural Services to train their Arts Officers, Community Workers and independent artists to build their own websites. She has also trained individuals & small groups to create theirs.
